Chicago – 8 January 2025 – Canopius, a leading global specialty (re)insurer, announced today the appointment of Laura Burke as US Head of Cyber & Technology.
Ms. Burke assumes the role after having served as the company’s Senior Vice President, Cyber & Technology since joining Canopius in 2020.
Ms. Burke’s appointment marks the latest milestone in the company’s strategic expansion in the US cyber insurance market and its commitment to providing innovative, reliable, and comprehensive solutions that safeguard businesses against the rapidly evolving cyber threats.

Canopius fully redesigned its primary cyber coverage offering in 2023 amidst the challenges posed by cyber threats including ransomware claims, setting itself apart through its robust capacity and commitment to underwriting unique risks and offering primary coverage.
The company’s market-leading expertise in threat intelligence and analytics, deep pool of cyber resources, and global in-house incident management team enable it to provide innovative end-to-end solutions. This is particularly important in the US market as the company continues to expand its personalized cyber offerings.

Ms. Burke brings more than a decade of experience to the role. Before joining Canopius, she served as Senior Vice President within CAC Specialty’s E&O and Cyber Practice. Prior to that she held the role of Practice Leader and Executive Underwriter of Cyber, Technology, Media and Specialty PI at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS). Burke served as Cyber Practice Leader at Lockton in Chicago before joining AGCS.
