Our Delegated Authorities – North America team specialises in binding authority business written by way of delegated underwriting authorities to managing general agents. The vast majority of business written is located in North America.
We are a significant player in the Lloyd’s excess and surplus lines market, writing a diverse portfolio of business. Classes written include commercial property, homeowners, casualty and automobile.
We seek to establish strong relationships with our agents, developing a deep understanding of their needs and enabling us to tailor our products accordingly. We work closely with specialist Lloyd’s brokers and focus on our core areas of expertise. We pride ourselves on our flexibility and service, combined with sound underwriting judgement and appropriate controls.
Automobile
Our automobile account primarily comprises commercial automobile physical damage, motor truck cargo, truckers’ general liability, non-trucking liability and a limited amount of primary auto liablity business written in the USA. We write both owner operator and fleet business.
Casualty
Our casualty account comprises commercial general liability, covering low hazard types of exposure such as slip and fall, food poisoning, etc. We are not a market for casualty business where there is any significant products exposure.
We will also write business on a package basis combining general liability and property under one policy.
Commercial Property
The main focus of the commercial property account is on small to medium sized commercial risks with total insured values below $25m. We will also write business on a package basis combining general liability and property under one policy.
We also write lenders single interest, REO (real estate owned), flood and mortgage impairment business.
Homeowners
We write homeowners business in both the USA and Canada. We focus on the middle market in terms of property values but will write both low- and high-value risks.
We write personal lines covering properties in the UK and Republic of Ireland as well as holiday homes across Europe. Our team also provides policies for touring caravans, static caravans and park homes.
This business is written through:
- Delegated authorities granted to building societies, lenders, affinity groups
- Lloyd’s brokers
- Other dedicated personal lines intermediaries
We work closely with our partners to provide products appropriate to their distribution channels and customer requirements.
Our experience in this class is demonstrated by our strong track record and long standing relationships with our clients. Many of our major business partners have been placing business with us for over ten years, and some in excess of twenty years. We pride ourselves on our flexibility and technical expertise that allow us to develop bespoke products for clients.
Household
We offer an account comprising household products as well as selected cover for commercial property risks and SMEs. Our business is written via delegated authority agreements.
We accept business from:
- Lloyd’s brokers
- Lloyd’s approved coverholders
- Financial organisations
- Charities and affinity groups, with whom we work closely in order to provide unique products for their market
Our team includes the chairman and members of the Lloyd’s Market Association for UK personal lines household and UK commercial panels, as well as the Lloyd’s representative on the ABI Property Committee.
UK Property
We underwrite a diverse portfolio of residential UK and European property and caravan insurances via delegated authorities. In addition to this we also write a number of niches schemes, ranging from specialist sports equipment cover to Financial institution property portfolio coverages.
We work closely with our partners to develop products appropriate to their distribution channels and customer requirements.
