LONDON – March 18, 2025 – Canopius Group, a leading global specialty and P&C (re)insurer, today announces the appointment of Candace Steele as Group Risk Director. Candace joined Canopius on 17 March 2025 and will report to Sheldon Lacy, Group Chief Risk Officer.
Candace will be responsible for coordinating Canopius’ risk framework. She will lead the Group Risk function and work in collaboration with the Business Unit CROs to enrich Canopius’ global approach to risk.
Candace brings over 20 years of risk, compliance and regulatory experience in complex global insurance environments. She joins Canopius from CG Insurance where she spent six years as Chief Compliance and Risk Officer for the Group, successfully navigating a period of significant expansion and growth through acquisition.
Prior to this, Candace spent eight years at Validus Holdings. She advanced through progressively responsible roles culminating as Group Compliance Officer, where she led the strategy for enterprise-wide risk and compliance management.
