CANOPIUS APPOINTS UWE SCHOBERTH AS HEAD OF U.S. DISTRIBUTION

CHICAGO – January 09, 2024 – Canopius Group, a leading global specialty and P&C (re)insurer, today announced the appointment of Uwe Schoberth as Head of Distribution, U.S. and Bermuda. Effective immediately, Schoberth will assume this newly created role and join the Canopius U.S. Executive Committee.

Schoberth is tasked with elevating Canopius’ relationships with its global brokers, regional distribution partners and strategic clients, supporting the exploration of new growth opportunities.

His responsibilities will include fostering effective communication between clients and underwriters and ensuring partners are well-versed in Canopius’ extensive expertise and capacity. Schoberth will also strategically optimize business opportunities in areas where Canopius holds a competitive advantage.

Schoberth brings over 30 years of experience in the insurance sector. He joins Canopius having most recently served as Chief Distribution Officer at Joyn Insurance, and having previously held leadership roles at Lloyd’s as well as other U.S. based organizations.

Canopius has also appointed Matthew Crane as Head of U.K. Distribution. Schoberth and Crane will closely collaborate, ensuring alignment of Canopius’ distribution strategy and clear points of access and lines of communication for Canopius’ partners in both markets.
