Sydney – 21 September, 2023 – Canopius Group, a leading global specialty (re)insurer, today announced the appointment of Lucy Lumb as Underwriter, Property Coverholder and Delegated Authority, and Trisha Urquhart, Underwriter, Accident & Health. The pair will bolster Canopius’ local underwriting capability, as the fast-growing team looks to expand their presence in Australia.
Originally from New Zealand, Lucy brings a wealth of experience, with over 19 years of industry experience across several senior underwriting roles. She specialises in commercial underwriting and joins Canopius from her role as Senior Property Underwriter at DUAL New Zealand. Other roles include Senior Commercial Underwriter at ANDO Insurance in New Zealand and Senior Commercial Property Underwriter at Pen Underwriting in Australia.
An experienced underwriter, Trisha has more than 24 years of experience in the industry and has worked across many areas of claims, underwriting, insurance broking and risk management. Trisha joins Canopius from East West Insurance Brokers where she held the position of Claims & Compliance Manager. Previous roles include Senior Underwriter, Liability & Accident and Sickness at Ryno Underwriting, where she was also a Claims Manager for both East West Insurance Brokers and Ryno Insurance.
Lucy will report into Jeanene Hill, Head of Coverholder & Delegated Authority, while Trisha will report into Suzanne White who leads our Accident & Health team in APAC.
These hires mark the continued expansion of Canopius in the APAC region, and the focus on building out its offer for the Australian market by bolstering local, on-ground capabilities. As a priority market, Canopius plans to further grow their Australian team by hiring experienced industry leaders.
